The Novel Retreat - House Rules

First and foremost, please treat the “Novel” Retreat like your home.  We also request that you treat the neighbors as if they were your neighbors. Please do not host any parties or gatherings, observe quiet hours after 11pm by turning off outdoor speakers and lights and moving loud conversations indoors, as required per Austin city ordinance requirements.  Only guests included in the reservation should stay at the “Novel” Retreat, and guests should be least 29 years of age unless accompanied by legal guardian.  Please no pets or smoking in or outside the house.

NO PARTIES OR EVENTS:  This is not a party house.  Our home is located in a family neighborhood, and our neighbors on all sides have small children.   Please do not host any parties, gatherings or events in our home without prior approval.

NO PETS:  We do not allow guests to bring pets into our home, except qualified service animals as required by law.  

NO SMOKING OR ILLEGAL DRUGS: Our home is smoke free.  Please no smoking in or outside the house, including e-cigarettes, vapes, or cigarettes.  No illegal drugs or substances allowed in our home including marijuana and mushrooms which are both illegal to possess and use in Texas.

NO COMMERCIAL PHOTOGRAPHY OR FILMING:  We do not allow commercial photo shoots or filming in our home with out our prior approval.

QUIET HOURS:  Quiet hours for our home are 11 pm to 8 am.  Please no music or loud conversations on the back deck or otherwise during those hours out of respect for our neighbors and to comply with the City of Austin sound ordinances.

CLEAN-UP:  Please clean-up at the end of your stay by tidying up, putting all dirty dishes in dishwasher, and taking out the kitchen trash and recycling (trash bins on left side of house).  Please also lock the front and backdoor when you depart.
